CG THERMAL – Graphite and Ceramic Heat Exchangers and Process Equipment

Florida Heat Transfer is excited to introduce – CG Thermal , LLC . CG Thermal was founded with the acquisition of the graphite and ceramic heat exchanger business of Apex Engineered Products .

Impervite(R) brand impervious graphite is a composite material consisting of a graphite base material impregnated with a proprietary phenolic resin . The base graphite is chosen for optimum physical properties to maximize the penetration depth of our phenolic resin impregnation in the graphite which results in optimum impervite properties . Carbon and graphite are produced using the same process – carbonization terminates at 840 C whereas graphitizing requires 2800 C . CG Thermal only supplies fully graphitized ( 2800 C ) tubes.

Umax(R) advanced ceramic is the most universally corrosion and erosion-resistant material in the chemical processing industry . Umax is a homogeneous , extremely inert material which can be cleaned with high pressure fluids with no danger of tube damage . Umax tubes come with an unconditional two ( 2 ) year guarantee against corrosion and erosion.

AirBTU Recuperator.

We are pleased to announce the addition of the AIRBTU Variable Pitch Radial Recuperator (VPRR)  to the process technologies offered by CG Thermal.  This hot gas-to gas heat exchanger is required in sulfuric acid production for heat recovery as well as temperature control to optimize production rates.

Ideal Solution for Catalytic Operations.

In acid manufacturing and regeneration, it is common to use heat exchangers in gas to gas applications to cool the streams coming off the catalyst bed.  These gas streams can be in excess of 1000F, and require recuperators, pre-heaters and interchangers  with advanced thermal design to avoid premature failure.

What is a VPRR? A gas-to-gas heat exchanger constructed of various grades of stainless steel, capable of operating at temperatures well over 1000F. The pitch of the tubes and the baffle arrangement are custom designed for the specific process conditions to provide uniform temperature across the heat exchanger.  This eliminates cold end corrosion and uneven stresses on the tubesheets.  This design will extend the life of the recuperator 10-15+ years over existing traditional designs.
